Spread across Chiang Rai is interesting architecture that combines the influences between the Thai and Burmese styles, most importantly Wat Phra Kaew. Built in the 12th Century during the Lanna Empire, this temple is a must-see for everyone (it was here that the Emerald Buddha was discovered before it was moved to Bangkok - a replica was made and placed in the same spot where it was found).

Next, the tour stops by the Lisu hill tribe village. This tribe is considered to be the most elaborate dressers and during festive occasions the women are endowed with massive amounts of jewelry. Lunch takes place at Tha Ton, a strategic landing point between Burma and Thailand, before the trip continues on to Phatai. This place is home to a Lahu hill tribe village and is a point where visitors will embark on the Kok River cruise. The boat cruise ends at the Pong Nam Lon Hot Springs where a car will transfer everyone back to their hotels.
